Gaza War, Part 3

Zero shock that 100+ Israeli hostages are *still* unaccounted for as the UN is considering Palestinian membership—the same UN that can’t even condemn Hamas.

Hamas started and owns this entire catastrophe, and could end this now by sending hostages home and surrendering.

My question would be, why are we supposed to be shocked and appalled about the 100, but not the 10,000 children murdered in their name?

The university cited security concerns at the graduation. But the student, who is Muslim, said the school was “succumbing to a campaign of hate meant to silence my voice.”

The University of Southern California said it has canceled plans for a graduation speech by this year’s valedictorian, Asna Tabassum, who is Muslim. The school said the decision stemmed from security concerns, after several pro-Israeli groups objected to her social media posts supporting Palestinians.

Can’t have those Muslims speaking up! They have to know their place.

This is appalling. Imagine the outrage if the same has been done to a Jewish student— there would be hearings before
Congress.

Imagine if she had publicly supported the elimination of Taiwan. Or the Ukraine.

Not a chance she would be allowed to speak.

Same deal.

Cite your source please. All I see is a student with a high GPA who supports blood drives. Show her calling for the elimination of Israel, because the articles sure don’t.

That’s the underlying controversy here.

She had pinned/liked a statement calling for the abolition of Israel, which led some pro-Israel groups to protest.

Cite that source. That is not reported anywhere in the article.

Here’s what the article says:

“two campus pro-Israeli groups that cited her social media support for Palestinians.”

This could mean calling for a ceasefire, like the president or the United States. This could mean demanding humanitarian access like the Secretary of State. This could mean citing the absolute tragedy of the death of Hind Rajab (absolutely gutting reporting of that today in WaPo) so unless you have a citation of her explicitly supporting the violent elimination of Israel, please stop slandering a young woman.

Lying is the national pastime for these people. When will y'all get it? Asking or demanding that they act honorably will never result in positive action.

JFC. It’s as if none of you people are capable of reading or researching.

Rich that you’re complaining about others “acting honorably”, while (a) lying, and (b) referring to “these people”.

Hypocrisy, much?

If you can like the posts calling for the razing of Gaza and publish a front page article in the NYT, you should be able to support the Palestinians and get a valedictorian speech.

Calling for a one state solution is also done by Jewish intellectuals like Peter Beinert. Should they also be denied Valedictory recognition, or is that a special punishment you save for young brown women?

I said two pages ago show me calls for the violent elimination of Israel. You haven’t done so. I’m sorry that biomed students with high GPAs aren’t terrorists, and your efforts to paint them as such have failed.

She will win her lawsuit.

I got my law degree at T-5. You?

Zero chance she wins a lawsuit.

And, to set the record straight, I never suggested that she was a terrorist or had called for violence. Those are your words.

If she called for democratic elections in Taiwan or Ukraine she’d absolutely be allowed to speak.

The fact that Israel is not a democracy for the majority of the people living under their rule is not this woman’s fault.

I love how the Zionists forcing immigration to the US has made their problem doubly hard.

There are going to be more Palestinian or Middle Eastern American- born kids and graduates here with more social capital than their parents in 10 years. Maybe lots will become attorneys or diplomats and run for public office like they did or become journalists or celebrities . Then, what?

Does the massive have to be expelled out of the US? God forbid they have social capital here and ability to influence American opinions.
