A show to fall asleep to, no laugh track!

I am one of those people who has to fall asleep watching a show. Familiarity usually helps but I’ve honestly exhausted my usuals.
I just watched Modern family and even though I hadn’t seen it before, I was able to fall asleep to it (and somehow still follow the show, haha). Looking for something similar…30 rock, parks and rec, Mindy project, new girl… Sitcom style and NO laugh track! It keeps me awake. |

The original Forensic Files. The narrator Peter Thomas, now deceased had the most soothing voice.
Listening to him narrate all manner of guts and gore in his calm and peaceful lullaby voice sent me right off to la la land in 30 mins or less, he was also great for the middle of the night awakenings. RIP Peter Thomas. |

30 rock is one of my favorite shows of all time.
DH and I are enjoying younger which is a 10 year old show on Netflix. Light sitcom that’s easy to zone in and out of. It’s Darren Star, so Emily in Paris esque but lower key. |

30-minute sitcoms wouldn’t work for me because the peppy theme song played at the top (and often bottom) of the show would wake me up. The Science Channel (available on HBO Max) has some that are pretty good to fall asleep to if crime isn’t your thing. They’re interesting but also boring enough that you can let your brain shut off. “Unearthed,” “space’s deepest secrets” and “if we built it today” are a few.

This is such a secret, beautiful show. I watched this when I was recovering from surgery and it was perfect. It doesn’t quite fit the bill to fall asleep too, though, because it’s so quiet and nuanced you really have to pay attention. And it needs subtitles because of their thick accent! |

This is my favorite comedy but it is so smart you will miss a ton by falling asleep. You'll still be able to follow the plot just fine (it's not complicated) but you'll miss the beauty of the show. Another great comedy in addition to the ones you've mentioned is Happy Endings. But again, it's smart enough that it's worth watching while awake. VEEP is also comedy gold but again, you'll miss the entire point by sleeping through it. |
