If your boys go to Landon, you're getting a great new headmaster in July!

I’ve heard that also but it’s just a matter of time til outrage, vitriol, and negativity finds its way to these pages. 😆

It's Head of School. Op, why didn't you include more info, its no secret.

"Dear Landon Community,

On behalf of the Board of Trustees and the Head of School Search Committee, we are excited to announce that Dr. Andrew "Andy" Martire will join Landon School as our next Head of School beginning July 1, 2026. Following a thorough, robust, and strategic search process that yielded outstanding candidates across the country, Dr. Martire was recommended by the Search Committee and enthusiastically confirmed by a vote of the Board of Trustees to be Landon’s seventh Head of School."

People still type OMG and holy outdated? Talk about juvenile.

As it is, I am sorry about the fading away of headmasters and headmistresses. They had such nice historical resonance to them. Oh well.

Most people of color think otherwise.

You mean black people? Just get straight to the point. And it's also an ignorant way of understanding etymology so wielding the claim doesn't impress me.

Headmaster and headmistress are old English terms. The American prep schools were consciously modeled after English private schools (or public schools as they traditionally were called). "Headmasters" were already being phased out in the US in 1990s.

You mean the type of parent who understands the origin of the term “headmaster”?

Your pedantic nature gets in the way of human decency.

I sure hope your kid never reads Harry Potter. It might be traumatizing.

Can someone clarify as I'm missing something that must be obvious. Wasn't this announced, as per a previous thread, in July?

Yep. Old news. And Landon has a diversity problem. Also old news.

As I said, let the vitriol begin. I went away for several hours to work and be productive. I come back here, and look what you people have done! Just look at yourselves!! OP- I hope you’ve learned a lesson about starting a thread on something you thought was positive. You’ll only get a handful of people concurring, amidst an onslaught of anger and meanness and utter derailing of your thread.

hope you all aren't Landon parents. Dr. Martire is a wonderful leader and this comes first hand, my child was at Calvert School when he started and he is a star!
