| We are a mixed-religion, very non-religious family. Kid would like a not-too-small school near a big city. Pref East Coast. Doesn't have stats for T20, I think Emory and Tufts are too reach-y. Villanova and Brandeis feel like reasonable targets, but I don't know if DC would go for the religious aspect. What else could we look at? |
| My kid who is open to Catholic schools and likes Villanova has GWU and Lehigh on his list. Also Drexel which might be a safety. |
GW is a good idea! Wondering about American. I never really hear about it. |
|
GWU
Richmond Colgate Boston College Bucknell Drexel (kinda) Lehigh |
A lot of these are nowhere near a big city. Colgate is the middle of absolute nowhere. |
I hear good things! I would go look! |
| lol, lehigh is not near a big city Drexel is low profile and Colgate and Bucknell are extremely far from civilization. |
|
I wouldn’t consider Brandeis a religious school. Villanova barely is.
And you’re not “mixed religion”, you are non-religious. |
|
Not a big city but w&m? my daughter had villanova and brandeis on her list but went to w&m.
what does your child want from a big city? |
| Take the religion out for a moment Villanova and Brandeis are polar opposites. Nova lots of sports and school spirit. Brandeis no school spirit, huge drop in US News ranking. |
We are in NYC so w&m is probably too much of a reach as well. I don't think he needs to be IN a big city, like an NYU type campus, but when we looked at remote schools it was a hard no ("there's nothing here.") |
| BC and Nova have strong Catholic affiliation. |
“Brandeis was founded in 1948 as a non-sectarian, coeducational university…” |
| Brandeis has seen much better days. |

"not-too-small school near a big city. Pref East Coast"
Boston University - show demonstrated interest Pitt Case Western - might be too midwest University of Rochester - not sure if Rochester is a big enough city NC State Would your child consider Canadian schools? |
