| Have tried a bunch of the different pods, have not found any of them to work well. And now reading that even the pods that say not microplastic might still be. So should I buy powder detergent afterall..in a cardboard box? Any recommended brand? |
| Everyone says use the powder. But I'm confused about how to use that in my h/e frontloader washer. The internet tells me to just add it to the drum, but I end up with it not washing out of my clothes and having major residue on some of them. |
| OP: I was asking about dishwasher detergent not laundry detergent. Hear you on the powder for that too...I have a top loader so a bit easier. |
| I just started using Blueland Dishwasher tabs, come in a little tin and no plastic. They actually work pretty good so far, way better than the seventh generation liquid detergent that I was using. |
| Why not gel dish detergent? |
| I have been happy with the dishwasher tablets from Molly’s Suds. I get them on Amazon. |
| I have terrible luck with pods. I use cascade gel and it gets the dishes clean. My sister, who works in the industry, reports that crystals/powder clean the best. That's just too messy for me! |
| Second the recommendation for Blueland! |
Third. I’ve been happy with them. |
| have you considered the possibility that it's your dishwasher? |
|
For what it’s worth, I use Cascade Complete powder in my dishwasher. I don’t use a rinse aid (like Jetdry) because I thought it was leaving a residue. I have noticed that without the rinse aid, my glassware is cloudy (hard water, soap residue, ?), but since I live alone and don’t entertain, I don’t really cate how they look. I think in the past I may have run them through a dishwasher cycle with vinegar that helped, but that was so ling ago that I don’t really remember).
For laundry, I use Tide Free HE liquid detergent in the detergent space for my front load washer. I may use bleach or Lysol laundry sanitizer, as well. I don’t use fabric softener. |
| I use Dirty Labs powder - comes in a cardboard like canister. Works fine. |
| If you’re using pods or tablets, try using one in the door and throwing one in the bottom so that it has detergent during the pre-wash too. |
We just switched from Cascade powder to the liquid and our dishes are definitely cleaner and without the residue. |
| Try running the hot water at your kitchen sink until the water is hot right before starting your dishwasher. |
