We were visiting family in Louisville and on a whim, DS wanted to tour Indiana, probably because of the football hype, but also because he is interested in business and wants a big school experience. We were open to it, and I have to say—even in winter, that campus is absolutely gorgeous. I want to come back and tour in the spring. Very impressed by our guide and the things we heard and saw.
Obviously spirits are very high in the town but it seems like a very nice, close-knit college town vibe. Surprisingly good restaurants. DS wants to apply and I fully support it, though of course I hope he ends up closer to home. |
| Yes, IU’s campus is consistently on the most beautiful college campuses lists and Bloomington is regularly rated a top college town. It’s a great place to spend four years. |
| Kelly is a great business school. Apply if he has the stats and be done with it. (Indiana also has world class music and languages.) |
What exactly compels you to react like a cockwobble in response to a sincere, positive post? OP, I think there is a special charm to many land-grant flagships, especially in the Midwest. IU is great. |
The campus is beautiful. We liked it and thought it was the best in Indiana and we toured all of them. Since he wants to study business, would be a good choice. The OOS tuition may be a negative however and perhaps not worth it compared to your own state flagship, unless your DS can get significant merit. |
| That's nice, OP. I have one kid who picked a big city campus, and another who wants to find something close to forests and greenery. |
Oh, wow, this is a great word! I’ve never seen it before 😄 |
| My dc applied and got into Kelly. He chose another school and is overall happy, but has some minor regret about IU |
| Thank you OP for sharing. |
| ND is prettier and has a better undergrad business school. |
And Notre Dame has the second best college football team in Indiana ! I have visited both universities; in my opinion, IU-Bloomington is more attractive than Notre Dame and Bloomington is a much nicer and more interesting town than South Bend (yuck). |
| I went to Purdue and loved it from NY. ND, IU and Purdue provide a great college experience. I wouldn’t want to live in Indiana, but it was a great four years, and a fun extension in Chicago after. |
Like, wreaths? |
excellent answer to a question I didn't ask ND is BETTER academically and has a BETTER B-school |
As you're not the OP, this thread is not about you. The business school at Indiana University is excellent; better than Notre Dame in that it offers more options, more diversity, and better opportunities. |
