So disappointed in CCRM…

I know they’re supposed to be the “gold standard” for labs and doctors, and that’s why I switched. But the CCRM NoVa/DC offices really struggle in terms of their admin.

I was at another clinic (Dominion) before coming to CCRM and I find myself missing all the day-to-day stuff about the other clinic: they answered their phones, people were friendly, they didn’t screw up appointment times, billing was really responsive. All of this (and more) has happened at CCRM. Plus, their DC office seems to never be open.

Curious what the experiences of others has been with CCRM in the DMV. Maybe these are growing pains?

Thanks for sharing your experience.

People put up with a lot of BS while paying a premium price for fertility care.

I loved my clinic because the communication was excellent and personal, financial aspects crystal clear, and the lab was great. (I went abroad!) You deserve it all.

I don't know that I've ever experienced a well-run medical office from an admin perspective and I work with a lot of medical offices.

Most physicians were taught to run insurance-based practices. Which means it's "free" (but its not) so no one expects it to be high end.

I thought Shady Grove was pretty efficient. Walter Reed was absolutely abysmal. At times they had one nurse running the entire clinic.

Don't know what to say other than I hear you and have been there.

Having been a patient and Columbia and Shady Grove, can only agree that Pinnacle Dominion has the best admin staff. SG is fine, Columbia absolute nightmare

I was also initially at Dominion Fertility, then switched to CCRM Nova. I had 3 retrievals 2 transfers at DF to get my first child, then had 4 more egg retrievals there trying for 2nd but they couldn't even retrieve any more eggs/or the few eggs I had couldn't even make it to day 3. Then I switched to CCRM Nova as a last resort, 3 retrievals and 2 transfers later, I got my second child last year.

The billing office at CCRM Nova is horrible compared to Dominion, if I finally got through to them, a lot of times they triaged me to the Colorado office and then it was no response. At DF I had direct contact with the billing contact at Bethesda who was responsive.

Otherwise, I thought everything else at CCRM Nova was superior (besides the price, ex. the surgical suite was out of network for all insurers so it was out of pocket for everyone). I loved my nurse, who was more responsive than my nurse at DF, my CCRM doctor was willing to try new protocols that DF wasn't and the CCRM lab was awesome (both contributed to my success in having my 2nd child when DF already suggested I need to consider Donor eggs multiple times).

CCRM Nova worked for me, so that's why I am willing to take the billing issues if I had to do it all over again. I am AMA, had DOR, also have egg quality issues.

This doesn’t bode well for me. I just called them because I was getting mixed and contradictory information from my insurer about their in-network status. CCRM told me that all their physicians, facilities, and labs were in-network with my insurer. I have to decide literally today if I want to enroll in the cheaper plan with a super high out-of-network deductible or pay an extra $500/mo for a plan with excellent OON coverage.

If you look on CCRM Nova's website, it states "Our surgery center is currently not in-network with any insurance carriers. You will be asked to pay at the time of service for the surgery facility and associated fees. However, we are happy to provide you with an itemized receipt for you to submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement."

I had to pay the $1,000+ surgical suite fee every time I had my egg retrieval at CCRM Nova. I forgot if I had to also pay a smaller amount of the FET suite. For my retrievals at DF, my insurance covered everything except copays and PGS testing/biopsy. At CCRM Nova, I had copays, surgical suite fee, PGS testing/biopsy, and potentially some other miscellaneous fees I can't remember. But in the end, I would say CCRM Nova was only about $1,500-$2,000 more expensive per egg retrieval for me with my insurance. For the results, I was willing to pay the additional fees.

I did not have to pay this fee at CCRM. However, we have Progyny coverage (via employer benefits) and Progyny bills my insurance plan and then sends me bills. I’ve only had to pay my deductible and copayments, never a surgical suite fee. I’ve been very happy with CCRM care overall, but have experience one nurse where the communication has always been very delayed.
