| If no any other national award, will it help for selective schools? Does it count as honor or EC? |
| It’s still a helpful thing to have on there. It represents leadership skills, longevity in an activity, etc. I’d list the Eagle designation as an honor and scouting in general as an EC. |
| It will be most useful when discussed in an interesting essay about what was learned / what evolved during the student's time as an ES |
| A few schools offer small scholarships for Eagle Scout or Gold Award. The only one that I recall is Ole Miss. |
I dont think it hurts. Who knows if it will get an applicant on the "margin" into a selective school. |
+1 |
Google says that Mississippi State and Southern Miss do, as well, in addition to Ole Miss. |
| It doesn't do much. My twin boys were both Eagle Scouts. One is at Villanova, the other Tulane. |
Absolutely helps at selective schools, as it’s pretty obscure and shows a long path to get there. |
Is this a mom of an Eagle Scout or a member of an ivy admissions team? |
| I follow a former college admissions counselor on Instagram and he just today gave his out of ten rankings for different activities- none scored a ten, but Eagle Scout was one of the few 9s he gave. |
| Now one can really say. It probably depends on the school and how impactful the project was, if it’s described. |
Can you share where to see this? |
I follow so many of these accounts- sorry, I can’t find it or I’d link it. But Eagle Scout is super hard, shows years of dedication and work. I would agree that it’s gotta be a boost! |
Thanks for responding, was just curious to see everything they mentioned. Have a friend with an Eagle Scout, I know it’s a long path. |
