Parents of 4+ kids

How old were you when you had your 4th kid and how old were your other kids?

Hmm. I was 44 when I had my last and 7th miscarriage. Does that count? Would have loved an actual baby, of course. Older kids were 19 and 14 at the time.

Why?

DH and I always talked about having 4. I am 42 now and while I know that isn’t old in DC standards I am hesitant to have another. But I get wistful sometimes thinking our family isn’t complete.

I was 47. Older kids were 10,12,14. Didn’t expect to get pregnant again but it was a happy surprise! Baby perfectly healthy.

Yes that IS old by DC standards. It's too damned old to have a baby, especially even you already have kids.

Stop it with your judgement. I'm the PP who had a first at 25 and tried to get a third in my 40s. I can afford it, and I have all my wits about me. People are more capable than you think.

I'm one of four kids, my youngest sibling born when my mom was 43. And that last baby did take a ton out of mom, she was on bedrest and really struggled with her health. I love my youngest sibling very very much, but it's not a choice I'd make for myself.

NP. Meh. My mom was 43 when she had her 4th. And 47 when she had her 5th. Not in DC.

Has nothing to do with affording it and nothing to do with your wits or capabilities. It's human biology.
