| Any suggestions ? A Catholic school that excels academically with a solid athletic program. Thank you! |

You'll get arguments as to how academically good it is, but the clear #1 feeder to Prep is Mater Dei. Some years 75% of the Mater Dei class ends up at Prep. No other school is even close.
Other schools that regularly send boys to Prep are Holy Redeemer, Mercy, St Elizabeth's, De Chantal, St Barts and Blessed Sacrament. |
|
For a very long time Prep has tried to include at lest some boys from all the local parish schools.
If you are interested in what K8’s send kids to which high schools you should check out the archives at parish times.com. And look at the May editions for the past few years. Many, but not all of the 28 Catholic parishes list their graduates and where they will be going to high school. You’ll see some variation from year to year. One year a K8 will send 5 to Prep and the next year it might be 2. |

This data is interesting and useful. Does it include DC and VA schools too?

| I’m not sure I’d feel great about the academics at any of these feeders after learning the average SSAT at GP is mid 60s. That’s pretty weak. |
That is the score for International students who board. |
You have to wonder what the SSAT scores were for someone who goes to the International Students page on the school's website and then reports that as if it were for the whole student body. |
| SSAT scores are mostly iq with only a little attributable to what is learned at school. |
| St. Barts' principal was a former Lacrosse coach at Georgetown Prep and is plugged into that community. |
Keep in mind that there is a wide variance of SSAT scores at Prep. They recruit a lot of athletes who may not have high test scores but then the balance out the class by also admitting some academic powerhouses ( including many of the Chinese boarders) with 95 percentile + scores. Prep’s math goes all the way up to linear algebra , which means someone has to start off with honors precalc in freshman year to get there and they have enough demand to offer the class every year.
