Hotel room in PA - no exterior walls.

Anonymous
Holy crap we are at Split Rock - because it last minute and we were desperate and several families.

Reviews gave us pause but it’s 2 nights “shrug”

Anyway our room is 84 degrees. Not cooling down.

But from fire safety point of view - there is no window. No exterior walls. WTH?!

Just a rant - I’m hot & tired & waiting for someone at SRR to help us.

I think they are allowed this if they have special venting going on behind the walls.

Sounds like your special venting is right from the depths of hell though. Can you just leave? Not sounding like it's worth it.

I'm sure the food is expensive and everything is crowded too.

No windows? Isn’t that a fire (escape) hazard?

In some cases, hotel rooms can legally be interior rooms without windows, it depends on local building codes.

But the temperature issue stands. I would still raise hell, demand a different room, or failing that, getting a large discount.

This. Unless the lack of windows/interior room situation was clearly disclosed when you booked, I would demand a reduction in your fee or a different room. And the heating situation is unacceptable and if they cannot fix it quickly, they should discount the room steeply. Don't let them try to get away with offering you a free night on another stay since you obviously don't want to go back.

Threaten with negative reviews on all major review sites AND a report to Better Business Bureau. If this doesn't get a response, let them know you are looking into building code standards with local authorities and will file complaints if necessary. Make sure the person you are talking to is an actual hotel manager and not just a clerk.

Pretty sure 84 degrees that can't be cooled is a code violation. At minimum leave google and yelp reviews to warn others. Is there another hotel you can move to? I would not stay.

I saw windowless rooms in Boston or maybe New York. Not for me, I have enough money for some sort of natural light or Id never wake up in the AM.
