DH bought a bunch of silver years ago, and I was skeptical. This is a relief.

One of my close friends who is a coin collector/ gold/ silver collector anticipated it would hit $100. This was his crystal ball estimate from several months ago.

The better question might be to ask: "When will the price of silver collapse ?"

This thread reminds me of The Lone Ranger.

Typically gold/silver have a 1-10 ratio which means if gold is at 4k silver should be at 400. personally think silver is off the leash and expect it to go to 1k with a moderate rise in gold at the same time!

Agree. I think if gold spiked this high, all metals will follow to go up. The real questions are - how scary is it that they are rising this fast and high?!!! And also - what is driving all metals. Good us kinda understood but silver and all the others.. good god.

I don't think people realize what an aberration it is for silver at $75/oz. That shouldn't actually be happening in a healthy economy. In context it shouldn't be rising so high this quickly unless shit is going to hit the fan somehow.

13 years ago SIL rejected Grandpa's silverware and I jumped on that like you wouldn't believe. Meanwhile my dad pawned ALL his father's bullion before the body was cold.

This link has interesting insight into the issues around selling large amounts of silver. Bottom line: buy ETFs if you are interested. But I would sell at this point.

I bought a bunch about 10 years ago and DH used to make jokes about it, complete with eye rolling. I told him one day, you won't be laughing about it. That day has come.

Trump wants to put a bunch of loose money people at the Fed so he can get his rate cuts. Trump keeps talking about sending checks to households. Combined with the failure of Trump's DOGE with a continued annual budget deficit of around 2 trillion... this move is clearly signaling for major inflation ahead.

The question is: to sell or not to sell if I don't actually need the money. I bought some decades ago when it was at about $7 per ounce.

I could sell it all now for about $5,000 total, but then I have dollars that will be eroded by inflation.

Any debt I have is super low interest, so it doesn't make sense to allocate toward that.

I guess just keep it and see where all this goes given the extremely low initial cost.
