| Per my DS’s request, we are doing traditional Jewish Chinese food on the 25th. Are there any options in DC proper (preferably the Hill) that will be open and not swamped? Not sure what the scene would be at the remaining Chinatown places. I know the best places are in the burbs, but hoping for something closer to home. Will the neighborhood places be delivering? |
No. |
| Our Jewish friends with this tradition get the Chinese food on the 24th. |
| We always order online for pickup for lunch and then eat it for lunch and dinner (we get a bunch). every chinese restaurant will be swamped. And most if not all don’t take reservations. We learned to do the pickup lunch thing after years of going place to place and not being able to get in. so that’s one option or you can try to go as soon as they open for dinner at like 4. |
| Shanghai Taste in Rockville |
Ooh good hint! Thanks. |
| Golden House in Bethesda. Takeout or delivery only. Our favorite for 24 years! |
| No. Bob’s Shanghai in Rockville. We’ve given up trying to find in DC. |
Really! I’ll have to try it. It looks so sketchy ☺️ … - NP |
| I'm also thinking the same for the 25th. I'm not actually a huge Chinese food fan, although I do enjoy peking duck. Because I will be ordering in, I'm not sure that's a good option? What are some approachable dishes for me to try? |
| Also is Han Palace not any good? They have decent reviews. |
| Han Palace is good. Happy that you can get Cantonese dishes there. |
| You can check Sichuan pavilion on 18th and K. It’s the best in DC that I’ve had. |
| None are open in DC Christmas day. Not many out in suburbia either. Even immigrants want a day of rest. |
not true but i agree that everyone should get a day of rest |
