Take Rice as an example, ED1 round this year they took 30% Questbridge alone, "the largest [Questbridge] cohorts ever from those admission pools". Then there are other hooked applicants. Not so many seats left for unhooked applicants.
I think Cornell may be doing the same. We got zero ED admit this year to Cornell. Unusual. https://news.rice.edu/news/2025/joy-surprise-and-tears-rice-welcomes-record-early-decision-class-2030-0 Better chance at RD? |
| Questbridge is not ED. Two separate processes. |
| It's the best year in recent memory at many top privates. |
|
My friend's kid's fairly small private school got 3-4 in ED to Rice. Normally not a feeder. I think one might have had a hook.
Questbridge in theory is fine but has grown out of control. |
| This year is def a full pay = advantage year whether ED, EA, RD. Budgets are hurting due to maggot infestations. |
True but I think the schools consider it in terms of how many spots they allocate to early vs RD round |
| Brown was harder than last year, 500 more applicants and fewer admitted. |
Except Brown took many from the waitlist, so not really. |
Nobody knows this year. It’s only ED. My kid’s year they took only 15 WL |
| Our private got at least one into Cornell, that is pretty typical. Will be a few more in spring. |
Last year was atypical, normally a very small number off waitlist. Not sure why their numbers were off that led to that. |
| UVA ED was harder at our school than year’s past. |
What were the stats that got those kids into Rice? |
No clue. They saw it on the school's IG. |
Our nova public had typical UVA results |
