Mike Huckabee and others, like Erika Kirk, are really pushing the idea that if you are a Christian, you must support the country of Israel because Jesus was a Jew and the idea of Israel is in the Bible. But I thought the whole idea of Christianity was about breaking away from Judaism because Christ was born a Jew but found so many problems with it, he left. 1200 Christian pastors just travelled to Israel to pledge allegiance and support for Israel. What do you think about this?

"If the Jews understood their scriptures, they would be Christians" has been the default Christian position for ~2000 years. That has sometimes unfortunately gone along with antisemitism but it doesn't have to. But these Christian Zionists think they know better than the patristic tradition and 99.9% of Christian thinkers historically.

To add to my own post, it comes out of a movement called dispensationalism that was popularized in the Scofield Bible edition that was very popular starting in the 19th century.

Erica Kirk is nothing but a Con and garbage; nothing she says has any validity. Money money money ......

Huckabee's mission is to convert Jews to Christians.

What I think is Jews who support Huckabee or Trump or any Republican are not Jews. As a child of a survivor I feel very strongly about this issue.

Jews around the world don't suffer because of the actions of the government of Israel. Jews around the world suffer because antisemites use the actions of the government of Israel to justify attacks on Jews. And if you make the same association, you're also an antisemite.

I would not phrase it that way. Peter and James viewed themselves as devout Jews, along with the rest of their group in Jerusalem. They likely thought of themselves as "different" in the same way the pharisees or sadducees, etc.

Paul is the reason that the modern form of Christianity deviates so much from its Jewish roots.

Jesus is a myth - just like the founding of Israel by the Jews is a myth. The reason to support Israel is because Jews live there now.
