What HHI for financial aid?

Wondering at what HHI families still qualify for financial aid…
Living within our means, but tuition is so high.

We make around 160 and get $0 from k-8 and 60% from high school.

What other forms of grifting are you engaged in?

I don’t understand this response.

We have $190k HHI and were denied FA at a $55k-ish k-12 in HS (not Catholic). We make it work with parental help; they cover about 1/3 of tuition.

We were hoping for $5-10k in aid to ease things but honestly didn’t expect it. Have not bothered to apply again.

So it’s actually $35k for you on that salary? Seems reasonable not to expect FA.

Hhi $320k. 2 kids in high school around $35k each. Get $0 from one, $2k off of the other.

There were other factors including medical situations that I do not owe you the details of, but as I said, we did not expect it. I did not say the decision was unreasonable. I also think there’s no harm in trying.

Just ignore. PP is an idiot that is constantly triggered by financial aid questions.

Just under $300k when we applied to well reputed (non-religious) privates for 6th grade. Tuition was in the 50s on average. We got a few paltry offers of $10k but mostly nothing. The one school that waitlisted our kid (who got into the rest) said they’d be admitted if willing to full pay.

We stayed in public.

20% off is “paltry”?

We thought so. But hey, you do you.

Families looking for discounts are not interested in supporting the school or the school community. Let them bargain shop elsewhere.
