Awful time to be a Michigan

alum and fan. Feel sorry for Sherrone Moore's wife, children, and the victim. This is beyond shocking and way surpasses what Mel Tucker did at Michigan State. Dude just torpedoed his life. What an unbelievable fall from grace. What a scandal that likely will get uglier as more details come to light in the next few days.

Given the sizable contingent of folks here who dislike Michigan, feel free to take your shots at the school. We deserve it.

My daughter is a sophomore at Michigan and called me after her last final yesterday to share the news before meeting friends for dinner. One gross man’s gross choices is hardly affecting her education or joy in being at Michigan ☺️

I’m not finding any joy in this, OP. Michigan is a tremendous school. This incident doesn’t take that away from that at all. I’m sorry this is happening to his family, and I’m sorry for the impact it may have on the Michigan community.

I think the fact he was paid $6 million a year to coach college football is more of a scandal than his cheating on his wife with some staffer.

Because I'm interested in what academic-focused people think about the situation, including those who might dislike Michigan.

My parents with to Michigan, I went to NU and honestly I think our scandal was worse because it was a longstanding culture of player abuse (at freaking Northwestern, a school that sucks at football). This guy obviously sucks but one guy cheating on his wife and having a meltdown after getting swiftly fired doesn't suggest systemic problems with the football program like other scandals have.

Let’s hope this is only a stain on Moore and not on the school as well. There’s no evidence the administration sat on these allegations and failed to act in a timely manor, but I can’t help but notice that he was fired 11 days after losing to Michigan’s biggest rival.

What happened? I saw inappropriate relationship with a staff member. A staff member is of legal age I would assume. He’s married. But- jail? Is it rape? M not following.

Officials haven’t released the charges, but it’s being reported that police responded to an assault allegation and arrested him pending investigation.

Domestic dispute. When he learned that the school was firing him, he drove to his girlfriend's apartment and threatened to kill her and hisself.
