On a video that went viral, the worker, who is white, can be seen calling two Black customers an epithet. The campaign to give her money echoes the reaction to a similar incident this year. The employee at the northern Wisconsin shop can be heard calling the customers a racial slur. She makes an obscene gesture. “I am racist,” the worker declares. Cinnabon soon fired the worker, saying her actions and statements were “completely unacceptable.”

But what happened next veered from the way many viral moments of outrage play out online: While many on social media condemned the worker’s words, others leaped to her defense. And for at least the second time in recent months, donors offered money to someone caught being racist. By Tuesday, a campaign for the fired employee, who was not named by Cinnabon, had raised more than $130,000.

The couple that was attacked were Somali. There are many racists who feel emboldened when the President of the United States says Somalis are garbage and are not wanted in the US.

There's a popular actor from an older TV series who is raising money for the cash he needs for his cancer treatment by selling off memorabilia.

I've seen the comment that all he should have done was call someone a slur and get it online and he would have raised 3x the money since "he's not working anymore anyway"

That was quite a thing when I thought to myself they're absolutely wrong, but they are also sadly not wrong, in today's environment.
