Taylor Swift Tour

This is so sad. I so badly wanted to buy two tickets and surprise my daughter with them for Christmas. She was so excited when she heard the concert announced.

A LOT of people badly wanted tickets and didn't get them. In my traveling group of 6 people, we had 2 presale codes (for different nights) and a Cap One card. Nothing.

That's a little extreme.

Extreme or not, it’s how tons of teen girls and women in their 20s are feeling.

TikTok is full of teen girls pissed off at TSwift.

Women in their 20's? Oh wow. Do people think she had something to do with it, personally? Are they thinking that maybe she isn't really concerned with her fans?

She did have something to do with it. She could have chosen not to participate in dynamic pricing (Ed Sheeran has done this in the past).

I don’t think Dynamic Pricing even really impacted things. Nosebleeds were going for $109 before fees. I think Capital One tickets were a little more expensive than VF though which is crummy.

Nosebleeds before dynamic pricing were supposed to be $59. So, Dynamic pricing basically doubled the price with the fees.

The dynamic pricing was really evident in places like Philadelphia.

I was going for a less popular show, (Detroit) and the prices were so much lower than what my friends trying for the Philadelphia, NJ, or Pittsburgh shows were seeing.

I think that makes sense. Philly/NJ/Pitt were bound to be the most popular shows since there's so many DMV/NYC fans and if you consider COL too.

Me, too. So frustrating.

No, the general sale of tickets is cancelled. I imagine there just aren’t any tickets left.

They all went on pre-sale? That would be sh!tty. There should only be a certain amount for pre-sale.

No, it's best if majority if not all tickets went during the Verified Fan sale. That way most tickets got into the hands of actual fans. At this time, the only people to be pissed at are the fans that bought 6 tickets instead of only the 2 they needed. Totally selfish.

They didn’t mostly get into the hands of actual fans. They got into the hands of bots.

Citation?

Look at all of the tickets on the resellers sites

How do you know those are all bots and not just fans with extras?

And going in the other direction, how do we know it's not Ticketmaster themselves withholding tickets and upselling them disguised as resell tickets?

I thought it was semi-common knowledge that TM does do this. Can anyone confirm or deny? (I’d Google around, but have no faith in finding the right needle in the haystack of current articles about TM.)

Yeah I don't think she had Dynamic Pricing for the verified fan sale (also the consensus on Reddit). If that were on, ticket prices would have been significantly higher.

It was. I paid almost $300 for each ticket. I know someone who got in hours earlier and paid $99 for similar tickets.

I tried this strategy for Elton John, but the prices really didn't drop, plus I wasn't super serious about it so I was merely just looking on SH, but tickets were still sky high even as the show was starting. THAT's the artist I'd say spend $500 because you'll probably never see him perform again. Taylor has a long touring career ahead of her--you'll catch her next time. Hopefully some of these prices come down because they are obscene. $9,000 (on SH) for a nosebleed seat? please.

DH and I had a similar conversation last night about Springsteen, when I said that I turned down $300 tickets to TS because that’s more than the experience was worth to me and he reminded me that he paid more than that for our Springsteen tickets. But I’m almost 100% sure it will be Bruce’s last tour, and TS should still have a long career ahead of her.

Bot "attack" doesn't mean the bots successfully purchased a significant # of tickets. They could have been spamming with random possible codes to try to get a hit, which would bog down the lobby, but the vast majority of random codes would not have been able to buy tickets.

They could have wiped out the capital one presale though - no pre-verification required there, just a cc #.

You didn't have to enter the presale code to get into the queue, only to leave the queue.

We had a random city on our priority list - my brother lives there and we can stay with him. We were able to get tickets, but I think because there was a lot less demand than the east coast.

Right - it would bog down the lobby/queue. If they ran thousands of those it really slow everyone down.

If they could sell them at a reasonable cost that would be nice too. Like I get greed, but this is next level. 500 for a nosebleed seat? And that seems like a steal since everything else is in the 1000s.

500? Try $9k. It's outrageous!

Us too. None of us got a code, but all six of us had Capitol One cards. Only one person even got out of the queue!

It's only selfish if you did it with the intent to resell. Some people go in groups. I've gone with a group of ten people. Once we had what we wanted, we all got off the site. We managed to be in two groups of 5, one behind the other. No extra tickets.

So does anyone have suggestions of alternative artists to go and see who put on a great show for less than $40 or so? Lewis Capaldi used to be an opening act. Another opening act I loved was Canadian Jeremy Fisher. There are so many talented musicians out there.
