How would you use $5k to invest in yourself?

Anonymous
I'm being gifted an unexpected $5k. What are the best investments I can make in myself with this extra money? I'm fortunate in that my finances are already in good shape so don't need to use it for anything like credit card or student loan debt. TIA!

I recently plopped down a decent amount to take a course in a subject I wasn't familiar with, at all. At 45, my memory isn't as good as it was when I was in college, but I can make better inferences. The day of the exam is approaching (it's a kind of mini-bar exam) and my God I feel unprepared!

But it's a gift I am giving my brain.

(I also thought of buying a deluxe red light face/neck mask from Japan, a professional 3K one, because I'm frivolous like that.)

Maybe buy a few stocks? Magnificent 7 only, they're the only ones propping up the S&P500. I've got Apple, Amazon, Alphabet, Netflix, Nvidia and they've all done really well.

Take a nice, memorable trip!

I would book myself 4 nights at Two Bunch Palms in CA. Get mud treatments, soak in mineral pool, hike.

If you want to invest in yourself, some options:

-Take lessons in something you've always wanted to try, which could pave the way for a new hobby. (Piano? Sailing? Golf? Italian? etc.)

- Upgrade your equipment for an existing hobby/activity, like buying a new camera or piece of home exercise equipment.

- If it gives you a lift, spruce up a room where you spend a lot of time (New bedding, rug, lamp, etc.)

And donate some to a charity that's meaningful to you -- you'll feel great to spread your good fortune!

Short easy trip (Caribbean, Arizona), something new (sweater, scarf, gloves), massage, guitar lessons until the money runs out

This is a good one. I'd get a personal trainer.
