Fair oaks Mall

Why is the fair oaks mall so crappy? There are a handful of good stores at most. Tysons is a billion times better. What gives? Does anyone know if there are plans to revitalize it?

They want to make it more like mosaic. Odd in my opinion. I also saw they just signed a lease with a large international grocery store. Also odd. Sucks bc parking is relatively easy since the area is so large.

It is too close to Tysons so it can’t attract stores. It doesn’t have a Nordstrom. Dulles also has a Nordstrom and those two malls suck off all the better stores. Meanwhile upscale stores and designers are more likely to go to the Galleria, Bethesda or downtown. Our population can’t support so many shopping destinations.

There was a time when it was great. I still remember when it opened.

But it should have some of the basic mall stores. I'd go just because Tysons doesn't have a Dick's Sporting good. So it would be great to hit a few more stores.

Does it have the basic teen stores? Aeries? Garage?

Just those two stores alone would help.

You posted this bs on reddit a few times too what's the real story here?!

It was great before covid, but many of the best stores have since closed.

When the Chick-fil-A left, we knew it was doomed.

Fair Oaks Mall was always second tier

I lived across in the apartments at Fairfax Corner back almost 17 years ago now and it was headed downhill at that time

The Dulles Nordstrom closed years ago...

My teen still prefers Fair Oaks - the Hollister store is much better and they have AE, Pac Sun, Journeys, etc. She's not into Kendra Scott or Lululemon or the big name brands so maybe that's also the appeal.

It still has good restaurants

The LL Bean store that left Tyson’s should relocate to Fair Oaks.

I didn't post this on reddit. It's my first time posting. As others have said, it was great pre-covid. There was a bcbg, a Lululemon..

There is an aerie and Hollister I think? Some more restaurants would be good, a few better stores and I think a bowling alley would be nice. A grocery store is kind of weird!
