and you shouldn't expect that you should be able to retire at 65 according to Ben Shapiro. He also mentioned New Yorkers who voted for Mamdami on unaffordobility, that you should "Jusy move" and leave if you cannot afford to live in the city, that's his solution. This is what he said on his podcast last week.
Clearly no one in his family does a labor job, such as construction or factory work who need to retire or are struggling with affordability. I saw a senior citizen old lady (65+) today doing a door dash pick up order today. He is always in favor of austerity here in the U.S. but when it comes to supporting foreign wars like a war in Iran or the Iraq war, wars bankrupting our country, he is the #1 supporter. I don't get this guy. |
| Don't complain that your little kids have 80 year old teachers in the future. And don't complain that your surgeon's eye sight is failing. Don't even start with elderly drivers, we need more them on the road heading to work, I guess. |
Yes, we are going to support countries that fight our enemies. Sorry you and Iran aren't happy. Not concerned with Iran's feelings. |
That's where we are headed as a country. Working until 80. Everyone in my family works a labor job where their bodies are broken by 65 yrs old and have to retire. Shapiro talks for a living, he just bables for a job and has an audience. He is never worked a real job in his life and doesnt understand lots of people work labor jobs and we need to have a country that allows retirement at 65. |
| Unfortunately, many don't have a choice: companies love to lay off older workers for a host of reasons. |
| Seriously - not a lot of companies work hard at keeping older workers. |
| Who is Ben Shapiro and what does he do for a living? Why does anyone care what he thinks? |
| Humans can't ever hop off of the trade mill? Many seniors have health issues by 65 and forcing them to work to survive is cruel, more so with the predatory healthcare system we have. |
| Politicians want to stay on government's payroll for ever because its a cushy job but everyone isn't as privileged. |
| Many seniors do work bc they have no money. Both my in laws work at 75. Who are all these people who think 65 is the true age of retirement for most Americans? |
| Don't have much of a choice. 57, DOGED, and no one wants to hire at my age. |
| Yet everyone is angry at the old folks in Congress!! Pick a lane people. |
| How does one move for free? Let me know. |
The old people in Congress are 85, not 65. |

These people trying to keep people in debt servitude while using nepotism and tribalism to do as little work as possible.
As macabre as it sounds, death and retirement are necessary for the younger generation to fill the vacated positions. It's why actual civilized and industrialized countries have mandatory retirement for civil service employees. I get that people are financially and medically unable to retire. Soon people will be able to buy their first home when it's time to retire and have no money to pay the mortgage. That's the great shame of America and the reason while it will be surpassed in the future. |
