UVA and UNC to SEC?

Anonymous
Both seem more like Big Ten schools than SEC schools. I favor keeping the ACC alive and remaining in the ACC.

I miss the PAC-10 Conference and the Southwest Conference.

I would be fine with Virginia & UNC joining the Patriot League or the Ivy League--both of which would be big steps down for Virginia & UNC.

I don’t see it happening, but if it did it would be money grab for the schools. Both would get a huge share of network broadcast $$$$ while never being competitive in football. Even basketball would be a challenge. It would be a miserable experience for fans of the two schools.

They would be lucky to be invited. Definitely a step up for the entire university.

Not going to happen for UVA

They both would be irrelevant in college football forever if they made that move. Look at Maryland joining the BIG. Money grab is all it would be.

In football, yes, more dollars for both UVA and UNC. In basketball, yes for UVA, but no for UNC as it doesn't need the SEC. Academically, no for both. In fact it would be a step down for both to be lumped with the SEC.

This isn’t really true because they’re already lumped in with Louisville in the ACC. In the SEC they would be with Vandy, UF, UGA, Texas

This quote from the article will annoy DCUM:

“Virginia has elite programs in a number of sports and is one of the top academic institutions in the country.”

If that’s true they desperately need the SEC or Big 10. It will be impossible to be relevant outside the P2.

UVA is too small and not a big or good football team.

If Scott Stadium is full of Hokie fans on Saturday that will not be good for UVA’s SEC membership application. Not even Vandy allows stadium takeovers anymore.
