Are Dickinson and F&M two peas in the same pod?

What, if any, are the key differences in these schools?

more similar than different and could see a kid fitting well (or not) at both. Admits from generally the same pool - a level below the Lehigh/Bucknell kids and a level above Gettysburg/Mt St Marys

LOL "pod."

^Sly Etiquette Hell reference.

Etiquette Hell was an etiquette discussion forum from like 15-20 years ago. Let's call it a spiritual ancestor to r/AmITheAsshole. Full of vicious, vile people, it eventually collapsed. Despite the general level of hate there, they tried to make this twee expression (pardon me while I vomit in my shoes) -- "pod" -- happen (the "fetch" of its day). It meant, roughly, "I so agree with your opinion that you and I are like two peas in a pod."

Bull crap. Gettysburg is a peer of Dickinson/F&M and far above Mt. St. Mary's.

Here's a rough hierarchy of the PA/LACs:

S: Swarthmore, Haverford
A: Bucknell, Lafayette, Lehigh
B: Dickinson, Gettysburg, F&M
C: Muhlenberg, Ursinus, Allegheny
D: Elizabethton, Lebanon Valley

I'm sure I'm leaving some out but you get the idea.

Lehigh is not a LAC...it's a top 50 national university.

Ok back to the question.

I know people who've been at both, and I've toured both twice with two different kids.

They look different (Dickinson building are stone; F&M red brick). Dickinson has a big focus on internationalism. They both seem to emphasize ensuring freshmen have communities in their first year. I think they are more similar than different.

Every Gettysburg grad I’ve met is like this. They seem insecure and desperate to prove they are in the same tier as Dickinson and F&M.

Are Dickinson and/or F&M less Greek than Lehigh / Lafayette / Bucknell? My DS would be willing to sacrifice a little ranking prestige for a less Greek SLAC if he does not get into his preferred NESCAC ED in Dec. The PA Patriot League schools seemed more Greek than the tour guides were letting on.

We have not visited either Dickinson or F&M but he might throw in an application last minute.

Dickinson is very minimal Greek life. It only has 3 fraternities and 6 sororities, with 5% of male students and 23% of female students affiliated.

Probably worth dropping down in rankings for someone uninterested in the Patriot League residential fraternity scene.
