| I’m rewatching Dawson’s Creek and she looks and acts too elegant to be a working class girl with a deadbeat drug smuggler father. |
| I always thought this, and I always thought Leighton meester seemed like she didn’t have the right air to play Blair Waldorf. This was before I knew their backgrounds. Once I did, it all made sense. Especially since neither is a great actress. |
|
Elegance is something people are born with, it is inate. It has nothing to do with background and money.
Many of the world's most elegant super models came from modest or impoverished backgrounds. Your theory is bunk. |
Crazy take. The one thing GG viewers unanimously agree upon is that Leighton was the perfect Blair. I think she's a fantastic actress. Who would you have cast instead? |
|
I disagree. The one bit of casting I DO find weird about this show, though, is that I think Joey and Pacey look like siblings and it's gross because they're supposed to be love interests.
|
I'm sorry for your lack of taste. |
It's not gross because they are not siblings. I was often confused as the "sister" of my boyfriends when I was a teen. People are often drawn to people who resemble them in some way. |
Ew. |

Joey is also dressed in pretty sophisticated clothing for a girl in college with a working class background. She wears turtle neck sweaters, long wool coats with leather gloves.
Her taste is too sophisticated for a girl born on the wrong side of the tracks. |
+1. This is just another "I'm better than the poors" post. |
These people often mature quickly, and style doesn't require wealth. |
| I thought a big part of Joey’s character was that she was a talented striver with conflicted feelings about her family? She’s up and out. That was her whole thing? |
| I'm rewatching. She was freaking adorable. I think Joey was just a tomboy/literal girl next door. You can see Katie's elegance, but I think she made a fine Joey. (Not a great actress, but endearing.) |
Katie was absolutely adorable as Joey! |
Wow you are so rude. |
