Why not late opening instead of early dismissal?

Since it's calendar survey season (or mcps' surveying season)...
Have schools tried opening late the two days (Monday and Tuesday) during Thanksgiving holiday break, instead of having early dismssal on the two days? Same for any other early dismissal days on the calendar.

+1. Teens could use the sleep in the mornings

Oh! lol

My kids are in ES so I was so confused by the question. I love early release days. School is already too late

Frederick does this for parent conferences, they do 3/4 hour late arrival days.

That is a great idea.

My kids would love a late opening instead of an early dismissal, but to keep things simple, MCPS tries to keep things consistent and only have 2 hour delayed openings or early dismissal 2 1/2 hours early. Either p/t conferences would have to fit into a shorter period in the mornings or MCPS would have to introduce a whole new delayed opening time.

What time do they start the school day on those days? A few hours to sleep would be glorious.

Yeah I am the PP who belatedly realized the advantage was to h.s. kids. I get that completely.

I think the issue is that teachers would prefer to be able to go home early if they don’t need to be there.

Teachers don’t get to go home early. We’re having parent teacher conferences right before we leave for Thanksgiving :/

Or, tell you teens to go to bed or take a nap.

It’s just a selfish parent who’d rather complain than parent.

Yeah, you know it doesn’t work that way.
