Damage to couch due to cleaners

Anonymous
I have an older fabric couch that I just had cleaned. When they left, I was already not thrilled as the couch was really, really damp. We had to put a fan on it and keep the cushions off and move for 3 days. When I started putting the cushions back on I noticed that almost every cushion and parts of the couch itself are fuzzy now due to the excessive rubbing or vacuuming( I guess).
I was able to flip some of the cushions to hide the damage but several have damage in both sides. The couch looks awful now! They also applied a scotch guard substance and it now feels greasy and definitely has a buildup. I had to wash my hands after touching.
My question is this- what can I have them compensate me ? Obviously, I’m asking for a full refund on the cleaning but can I ask for more?
In full disclosure, the couch is older(2016) and my cats were not kind to the bottom of it. You can see numerous loose threads along the front of the couch due to the scratches.
Thanks for any advice- I’ve never had this happen!

Good thing they didn't scratch your fridge like another poster had done. This cleaning company is notorious!

A ten year old couch?

Call ICE if they don’t offer to fix or replace.

Since the couch 🛋️ is already nine yrs. old plus has some minimal feline damage as well - - I would simply get rid of it & purchase a brand-new one.

Then I would leave a negative review for the cleaning company online.
Only so other people would not have their own sofas damaged + ruined in the future.

Curiously both of these posts are very similar motif-wise.

Both suffered damage from their house cleaners.

No I think they sent the couch out for cleaning by professionals.

Which company?

Not a troll. I’m in California so not local. They are coming out this week to check the damage so I have not received a refund yet. If they do not offer, there will be hell to pay.
Company is Kwikdry.

I had my couch cleaned after a fire in my apartment building.

The cleaning made the upholstery permanently yellowed and crispy. I only got a refund on the cleaning. How fabric reacts isn't warrantied. That's usually in the fine print.

You can let them know the Scotchguard treatment failed. Maybe they can remove it slightly by recleaning.

They could probably smell what you couldn’t - that the couch completely stank from your cats. They tried to do you a favor and get it clean. Next time tell them not to try getting cat smell out of anything because you like it.

Scotchguard is forever chemicals. It is not healthy and needs to be banned.

Does their website have things like "Satisfaction guaranteed?"

I would take them up on getting a refund for the service, but it may be difficult.

Did you pay by credit card? You could challenge with the bank saying they delivered poor service.

Scotchgard was reformulated years ago. You can't get the good stuff anymore.
