I can assure you that Usha is probably more cut throat and power hungry than JD. There is a reason they have been together for so long, the reason is similar values. Also, please don’t accuse me of racism, I say this as an Indian American.

IMHO, not wearing a ring means nothing, maybe she sent it for cleaning or took it off because of a million other reasons.

Yes! People make it seem like Usha is a poor unfortunate soul who is being manipulated by JD. If anything, Usha has the upper hand, and it would be interesting to see what her true intentions are. I don't trust her any more than I trust JD. She is definitely ruthless and cutthroat.
