So are you going to tell us the news? Or just string us along?

Your library only buys 1 copy of an ebook? I’m assuming literacy rates are low where you live because you clearly aren’t investing in it? The advantage of ebooks and audiobooks versus library bound physical books (which cost more then just grabbing a copy off amazon) is you can purchase way more copies of a book. So my library doesn’t have a single physical copy of awake but over 100 ebooks and audio. And demand is high for them.

Anonymous wrote:The NY Times has a system for how books end up on the list. I’m not a Jen fan at all, but the Times editors don’t just select books for the list. There was no way her team was going to let this book not be a best seller. In terms of how many books it actually sells, the only way to find out is from Nielsen Book Scan.

Bulk buying is happening for sure though because hello…. Jen has her own book club, so however many women subscribe to it, all got Awake. Who bought those books?

Jen H Inc.

Here’s the link to the Times’ methodology:

Exactly!

There was a recent court case about this:

“For years, the New York Times maintained the facade that its bestseller list was compiled from comprehensive sales data, a trusted reflection of what readers were actually buying. However, faced with legal scrutiny, the publication was forced to admit the list was not the product of objective algorithms or sales metrics. Instead, it stands as a curated selection, influenced by the newspaper's editorial team's subjective decisions.”

The “best seller list” is a complete fraud.

Montgomery County has:

- 19 physical copies, all checked out, with 35 people on the wait list

- 25 audio books, all checked out, 191 people on the wait list

- 20 ebooks, all checked out, 145 people on the wait list

I'm sure DC, Arlington, Fairfax, etc are similar.

You're too lazy to Google something but we should expend effort to type out an explanation?

Speaking of Drooble Harbor, we need a Capstitcher take on the whole NYT shenanigans

I have been avoiding Jen's IG because of the fakey squee crinkled face shot she has pinned to the top of her feed.

Did listen to the pod clip with Amy, who is annoying for many reasons but also because she can't speak in a normal tone. She's like the Seinfeld low-talker.

I am in a small town in Alabama and I tried to get her book from our library. 5-6 month wait for both ebook and physical copy.

I live in Droople Harbour, Mass and our public library is telling me that the waitlist of Awake is 10,698. I should finally be able to get it in 2084.

By the time Small Town Alabama gets the book, Sis will have admitted Big Sass is really gay, “I was lying to myself because of the PATRIARCHYYYYY!”. Her main source of income will be Only Fans and erotic oils. Silent Amy will have taken over the podcast, but no one will know because we can’t hear anything.

How can Big Sass be g*y when Jen has the hottest most acrobatic s*x with him every time they’re together? It’s not too late to hop on the TSwift train and rename the book “Morning Wood”.

The Patriarchy and Purity Culture Shame forced Jen to make a living preying on the insecurities of vulnerable women, guys. She's a victim in all of this as much as anyone.

Forced? Do you need a dictionary, sweetie? Silly of us to think that she should do something revolutionary like use her teaching degree to make a living.

Pretty sure that original post was delivered with a huge dose of sarcasm.

Oh! LOL. That was me. The tone has changed in here a bit, though. The vibe is more corneater-y.
