Hoping someone can do an updated version of the below with what they are hearing from their college freshmen (and their friends) about the first few months of experience?

Yes, I think anecdotal data on this board is no different than unigo. Just interesting for me to pass on to my two DCs who are trying to gain insight into what it's like actually attending these colleges.

Same. I’d like more data on a slew of schools (Northwestern, Vanderbilt, Duke, Cornell, Wake, Dartmouth, WashU, Michigan).
What the first semester felt like. Socially, academically, etc.. |
No one‘s naming specific schools and talking about the things in a short succinct manner. Was there anything helpful there? I just looked at the last two pages and didn’t see anything. |
The larger the school, the more varied the experiences. Among the above listed schools, WFU & Dartmouth College are the only two small enough to make generalizations about student experiences in my opinion. |
You want another parent eavesdropper to tell you what they "heard" and or were told by students again for the fall 2025 version of that thread you cited? what a troll. |
| Parent eavesdroppers and/or nosy parents are the worst. |
| I’m curious. I take it with a grain of salt but am still interested. It’s so hard to get a read as a prospective student. |
You mean you want someone to make a bunch of stuff up like that poster did? |
She’s a cool mom. |
Exactly! It’s so obvious this person is composing fiction. No parent would ever know that level of detail concerning their kids’ friends - and if they actually did, you know their kids can’t stand their meddling. |
|
I know that level of detail of DD’s 8 closest friends (small private outside DC). Yes similar level of social details - these girls TALK and so does DD.
I won’t ever post those summaries here though bc I’ll be bashed. |
| Mine is at VT and has been drunk more weekends than not, so I think she's having a blast. |
Same. Very interested. Also helpful to know the “type” of student/kid because then you can compare apples to apples. |
