By now, the traitors who betrayed the people must be having major buyer’s remorse.
Why can’t we just call another vote in the senate and re-vote? The shutdown isn’t even over yet. |
| Huh? |
| There are still hurdles to go through....it is likely the House doesn't accept the senate deal anyhow. |
| OP, please consider doing some reading on how Congress works and how bills get passed. Democrats are in the minority in both houses. They don't get to just call for a vote. |
But why can’t the senate re-vote? |
They could, in theory, but why would the GOP bring the vote? |
|
I am from a EU country. I do not know your procedure here in America fully.
But, when there is a “bad result” on a vote, the simple solution we have is to simply keep voting until the parties vote correctly. I do not see the reason for America not doing this as we do. |
you mean like Brexit? |
Brexit should never have been allowed to happen. |
I think they can, since Schumer voted no. But this is only for bills that didn't pass. |
No, they are not having buyer's remorse. They knew the reaction. It's why they had other Senators vote yes instead of them. |
|
Why can’t the Congress just delay any vote indefinitely?
Problem solved ! |
+1 It's pretty obvious the Democrat leadership decided they needed to end the shutdown while looking like they opposed the deal. So they had the least vulnerable senators vote for the deal and are now pretending to be mad at them. It's all a big show. |
| While I was very pro shutdown, I am ok with it ending. First, the government had to reopen and the GOP was not going to bend. Second, I think it’s a long term win for the Dems. While I think it’s horrible health care costs will go up for many people, that and Trump’s fighting SNAP benefits has shown that the GOP doesn’t care about struggling people and has no healthcare plan. Maybe it will open some eyes to see who protects struggling Americans and who has galas for billionaires. |
| The Dems were not going to win a game of chicken when the Republicans want to crash. The Dems are in a good position. They weren’t getting anything more by dragging this out longer. |
