Is there a place to see real time TSA wait times?

Anonymous
I have an optional trip coming up and I do not want to get stranded away from home. So I’d rather cancel if that’s a likely outcome. But I don’t know if the TSA issues are just scattered at a few places or are growing.

I tried the TSA app but it has a warning that it may not be accurate as no one is maintaining the website.

Depends on the airport. Some show wait times on their websites, some don’t. I’ve flown quite a bit in the past month and haven’t had any problems but I am flying into and out of the same larger airports. It really varies by airport.

Where are you going?

DCA and BWI have it on their website. IAD does not.

TSA at national has been fine (I’ve flown twice in the last two weeks including yesterday).

TSA was fine a couple weeks ago in Fort Lauderdale.

I’ll let you know what IAH is like later this week (that’s the one I’m worried about given the issues on Monday).

ICYMI: today they will start announcing which flights will be canceled tomorrow (Friday) as they dramatically scale back air traffic due to the shutdown.

I’m currently on business travel and scheduled to fly home on Friday…and I’m hoping my flight isn’t impacted.

I already received an email from the airline flagging the same info which has been shared by mainstream media.

I was already bracing myself for ridiculous tsa lines, and now I need to be prepared to get stuck at the airport thanks to thousands of flights being canceled.

10% reductions suck but 90% will go on as planned.

Very short for TSA Pre at Dulles this morning.

Supposedly only 4% being canceled tomorrow and they will ramp up to 10% over a week.

United says flights to/from their hubs (which includes IAD) will not be impacted.

Smart enough to read the thread title and OP, which is specifically about TSA.

Where are you seeing that? This is what the top of their web page says:

"The U.S. government plans to restrict flights beginning Friday, November 7, due to the ongoing federal government shutdown. We’re making updates to our schedule and will let you know if your flight is affected as soon as possible"

Since every flight touches one of their hubs, not sure how they could avoid this altogether.

No, PP is right: TSA wait times are not going to cause OP to get stranded. Flight cancellations and reroutings might.

DCA, IAD and BWI are on this list of the 40 airports with reduced schedules, which makes sense because they are all in the top 40 of busiest airports in the country.
