Can’t afford to be essential

At this time I am two months behind on mortgage, 1 month on car, and insurance for car is lapsing. I’ve worked everyday since the shutdown started. I’ve not been paid. The agency has refused to certify our hours worked.
I simply can’t afford to get to the office. I need a real job yesterday.
I am in DC metro and don’t want help to keep this job. This is so fd up.

I'm so sorry, it's absolutely awful to hear what some people like you are going through.

It's still intended that you will get back pay, despite Trump refusing to pay you.

Do you have a like of credit?

But your last paycheck was only two weeks ago. Why are you two months behind on mortgage?

That last paycheck was not a full check. Partial mortgage pay events don’t count as current.

I don’t have an escrow with my mortgage and am paying my property taxes with a credit card then I can balance transfer it to a no interest for 18 months card and use my property taxes savings cash for mortgage payments. Not that I should have to pay a balance transfer fee when I’m literally working but we aren’t allowed to take off and are forced to spend money driving to work when we aren’t being paid.

And there is no end in sight.

I’m sorry, OP.

I’m sorry, OP. I’m also a fed and I completely sympathize.

I am so sorry, OP. I am not a Fed but I hate the stress this shutdown puts on regular families. I hope things get better for you soon.

I'm sorry OP. Please take advantage of any aid that organizations, restaurants, and people in your community are offering. You have nothing to be ashamed of, so please don't let that stop you from getting help.

Thank you. It is very embarrassing. Going into office and getting free food at lunch line. I can’t believe I choose to work for the government.

If you have another opportunity- take it and stop working for free.

Like I said, you've done nothing to deserve what is happening to you. Feel no shame in accepting help. People want to help.
