| I googled this question but couldn't find a straight answer. If my child shows up to an AP test in the spring but decides they don't want to take it, do they still have to sit through the 3 hour test in silence, or can they just walk out and turn it in and then cancel the score later? Is it the same result as not showing up for the exam? I believe there is a cancellation fee of $40 that the college board charges the school. Reason I'm asking is that my kid is not sure whether they are going to be prepared for an exam they signed up for, but if we wait, the sign-up fee goes up substantially (and test will be provided on a space-available basis) so I would prefer to sign-up now to preserve the option. This is a senior, so I have no idea how they will feel after this crazy application period is over and they are no longer sleep deprived. |
| yeah my senior skipped some once he learned no credit given at his college. feel free to skip it. |
| Yeah, we had to pay a $40 fee to no-show, so we told the AP coordinator in advance and paid the fee. No showing up at the test required |
| My kid just didn't show to an exam senior year and we ate the fee. I didn't realize we could've gotten some of our money back! Why bother canceling the score if they are a senior? |
Some don't show up on test day. School has cancel fee. Encourage student to take test even if they don't plan to use for college credit or skip an intro level class (if they score well). It should get better after the crazy Fall into Winter college applying season |
Just take the exam. If its a low score dont submit it to the college. My child was pleasantly surprised each time they have taken an exam that they got a higher score than expected. Its good to practice test taking anf its low stress because it can only help you and has no negative consequences for not doing well. |
My Sr was burned out after still deciding on college over Spring Break, so cancelling the test for which the school provided zero benefit - placement or credit - was the right call. |
| I just emailed my college saying that I was no longer intending to complete the exam (my college didn't accept credits for it, so no point), and then cancelled the exam online. Pretty simple |
Did they cancel before the test day, or just no show? Were you charged a fee? |
