| Have a freshman there. Apparently Halloween is a huge deal, beyond normal college student fun, with students from other colleges coming into town to join in the festivities. Any sense of just how bad things get? It's making me a little nervous - both from a safety perspective and because I'm not convinced by kid is balancing class and partying. |
| Halloween is on a Friday, of course there will be partying at JMU and every other college campus. What exactly are you nervous about? |
|
The good news is you’ll never know what happens. The bad news is your kid will be doing things and seeing things you can’t imagine.

| I love that my college kid is getting a Halloweekend on campus as opposed to my two still in high school who will be driving around for the next two nights of festivities |
| Halloween on a Friday or Saturday is college student Mardi Gras OP, it was like that even 20 years ago. Your adult kid has to learn how to handle themselves sometime. |
| It’s gonna be lit. |
| Just give them a reminder about alcohol safety and spare some uber money if you are feeling nice. It’s definitely a crazy party weekend |
OP here. This is what I’m nervous about! |
Your kid will be fine and nights like this is what they’ll look back fondly on decades from now. The unbridled love for JMU isn’t because of lame pizza parties or quirky Harry Potter clubs lol now go have a drink yourself! |
| Halloweekend is huge at almost every college. |
Umm, this is happening in every college right now. I have a kid at Ohio State and there's a football game there tomorrow (against Penn State) so you can only imagine. |
|
FUN keeps them enthusiastic about the school. The school they chose. They will be glad they chose it. They will work hard to stay there.
I'm a parent and that's my perspective |
| Halloweekend is a thing at many, many colleges. My go-out-once-a-week kid is going out for 3 straight nights. |
Yep! My kid will be going to their B10 game (finally a night game!) and then out afterwards. |
JMU goes harder! |
