| Child is seriously looking at both schools. Any advice? |
Tulane--- nope. Not after the recent news on what they did. UF all the way. Actually, even before the news, UF still won. Less expensive, more fun, more diverse, great campus. |
| gee, really depends on so many factors |
Sorry wish I could be more specific. Child wouldn't appreciate it if I spilled too many details. Tulane looks great in many ways, but I resent the ED part of it, considering how expensive it is. I can't see committing without question without some idea about finances. UF is obviously highly ranked, but concerned about the size, having to do online classes etc. |
| UF is better. |
| UF had potential but I really wouldn’t go there at this point given DeSantis’ meddling. |
| TULANE. They offer decent FA and merit awards if you're into that. |
| lol wouldn’t go there because of DeSantis. Enjoy Oberlin! |
| No comparison. If your not a Gator your Gator bait. |

The location and size are very different. Both are great schools with lots of happy students.
Run the NPC for Tulane to see what your cost of attendance would be. Are you a Florida resident? UF is an even harder admit from OOS. If not, then are there other schools that would work for your DC and family finances? |
| UF is ranked much higher |
|
The schools are SO different it’s like comparing apples and oranges. I get applying broadly, but these two schools have so little in common.
My DC applied broadly a couple of years ago because they wouldn’t commit to an ED, but their preference was a mid-sized school. They were wait listed across the board so chose a strong (on paper) oos flagship. Long story short, DC ended up transferring and is much happier at their mid-sized private than they were at their more highly ranked public. This is obviously just one anecdote, but if your kid thinks a Tulane is a better fit, I can’t imagine UF being a good alternative and vice versa. |
oh the irony |
so, TULANE |
I posted from my phone it was autocorrect loser. |
