Infants, Toddlers, & Preschoolers
| I always get these stores confused. Is there any difference in sizing or quality of the clothes from them? In particular, kid's coats. TIA |
Lands end has better sales!
|
| yeah, lands ends prices are better, and they have more variety. i did love the lands ends soft shoes (robeez-like) when my DS was at that stage. but now that he's a preschooler, we like the lands end coats and shirts. |
| LL Bean coats are excellent quality. I haven't gotten any coats from Lands End, but their other clothes are excellent quality too. Lands End does have sales, and if you order online and don't like it, you can always return it to a Sears. |
| Lands End shirts and sweat shirts are nice but when it comes to outwear, boots and even fleece jackets LL Bean's wins hands down. The stuff lasts forever, its well made - they include extra's like reflective tape on their coats and boots. They also make their jackets etc taking into consideration how they will actually be used. Case in point I order snow pants from Lands End- they were only poly filled - so not warm enough for an honest winter, their solution for fitting over books was simply a zipper with extended fabric to make an opening. Trying to get them on and off with boots on a kid was difficult. LL Bean on the other hand made their snow pants with a snow bib that used sticky velcro - easy to get on and off - easy to fit different size books etc. You pay more at LL Bean but if you are looking for lasting quality they are worth it. |
| I guess for us - I just need it to last a season or two - not forever (no younger sibs to hand down to.) Love Lands End - no problems with quality, fit and they replaced a jacket at the end of the season last year that had a broken zipper. |
| Love LL Bean shirts, onesies, fleece jackets, winter coats, winter hats, spring dresses. Soft and very well-made clothing. Sizes run large so your baby/toddler can wear the same thing for over a year! Worth paying more. |
| Now that LL Bean has everything made in China, the quality has gone way down. they will take it back but it gets old going back every season. |

I love LL Bean coats for my son; they last him two seasons easily and still look new. I buy shirts and sweaters from both.
I find LL Bean pants to be much too long for my son, but maybe that's just him. Both brands are much better quality than almost anything I buy out and about (Gap, Macys, Old Navy, Children's Place). |

Can I do a quick thread hijack (sorry, OP).
In need of a fleece jacket for those cool fall days for my DD who will turn 1 in late winter. LL Bean v. Columbia v. REI? LL Bean is $20 more than Columbia, but is there a difference or reason to choose one over the other two? |

LL bean has better coats hands down. But i think lands end has better look especially for girls. And some of the shoes are great.
YOu can buy ll bean coats on sale at end of season at tysons store at great prices - much better than online. Same is true of sears at mont mall for lands end. I try to buy end of season stuff for next year although i didn't manage it this past year. overall i think ll bean is better quality but lands end has better styles. |
| I really like the convenience and value of Lands End. I don't have a problem with the quality, I think it's good. Being able to buy online and return at Sears is convenient. The overstocks part of the website has real steals. |
| We bought both and prefer lands end. We didn't like the llbean coat for our then 3 year old and a toddler dress fell apart. |
I don't know if this is important to you, but I always get a fleece with a hood because DD likes it, and it helps keep her head (which has very little hair) and neck warm. I have not seen many Columbia fleeces that have hoods. We've gotten fleeces from Old Navy, Gymboree, Columbia and Patagonia (on super sale-so $17 v. $50) and Patagonia wins hands down. Unfortunately, they are too expensive to buy on a regular basis so this year DD has a fleece from ON and Columbia (hoodless) and the Columbia one is definitely thicker. |
| They're comparable but I like that LLBean will stand behind their product forever. My toddler had a pair of slippers that were well worn, but the seam started to come apart and they still fit. With most items, I would have just said " they're worn out," and bought new ones, but I took these back to the store and they gave me a new pair, no questions asked. I also did that with a pair of adult shoes that had been worn over a year when the sole cracked, and they replaced them. Their kids' outerwear is great. |
