I'm having my second period this month and I want to kill myself

I've always been very regular but this month, two weeks after the first period, I've gotten another full blown period. It's never happened before. Anyone else experience this little "bonus round"?

How old are you?

I had this happen when I lived in CO and would go to high altitude. I would go skiing every other week and it would happen. My Gyn had never heard of that happening before. After a couple of months of this I went on the pill and it stopped.

Same thing here -- if you are my age (47), it might be perimenopause.

Well, I had a period that lasted 29 days. Luckily I had a great reason to have a hysterctomy (fibroids), and I am menstrual-free!

It happened to me about 4-5 months ago (a 13-day cycle). I'm 41. Ever since, my cycles have been shorter than normal (21-24 days instead of 28-32) and my periods haven't been as long (1-4 days instead of 5-7). I was surprised how suddenly things changed. I'm guessing perimenopause. My ob/gyn just told me that things get a bit irregular towards the end of your menstruating life, just like they were a bit irregular at the start.

Have ordered a book on-line so I can understand it all a bit better!

I had this happen 5 months PP. Since then, it's back to normal.

I've had this happen, but it's usually when I screw up with my b.c. pills and forget to take several.

It can also happen if you're anemic.

I went on the pill for this reason. There is already too much unpredictability in my life!

Happened to me when I went back on the pill after #1... drove me nuts, I stopped taking it, waited a month or so to regulate and planned to try taking it again... and then #2 came along :-d

Recently had the Mirena put in... crossing my fingers!

EXACTLY me too! I am 43. In the past year my cycle has been shorter and the actual period has been shorter/lighter. Then this month ... well had my period on Oct 1 and just had another last week. Not long or heavy but definitely more than "breakthrough".

I had hip pain last week (I am a runner) and did take advil for a few days -- I first thought I had internal bleeding -- don't know which thought is worse, menapause or stomach bleeding?!

Consult your Gyn!

In my case it was not a period but bleeding from an ovarian cyst - can't remember the name (luteal cyst?). A benign one that causes bleeding between periods at around ovulation. Gyn told me to go on the pill.

Have those symptoms now at 5 months post-partum, but hoping it is just a re-adjustment of my cycle and not cysts.

Depending on your age, it could be irregular ovulation and the bleeding is breakthrough bleeding. It can't hurt to get it checked by your gyn.

Mine last almost a week and come 21-22 days after the start of the last one, which means I only get 2 period-free weeks between them. Can't stand it. I'm in my early 40s, healthy and very athletic, and this has been my steady pattern for at least 4 years. My gyn says that this is perfectly normal.
