| I’ve had bppv before and a week or so ago after major work stress and a ton of flights I got what felt like the same thing, except it’s not going away. Went to pcp who did a neuro exam and said it’s prob this. I’m not actually off balance but I just feel…. Weird. And if I flip my head to either side it feels v odd. Anyone else btdt? |
| I get bppv from time to time. If it's mild I just let it be. It can last over a week. Did you/they try Epley Maneuver? |
I tried it but so far nothing The weird thing is this time it’s like I feel ‘weird’ all over. Almost like weak or wobbly? Or just off kilter. But I’m not actually weak or wobbly at all. I can’t tell if I’m now just anxious or it’s a real thing. I was like ‘I feel weird’ and the dr just kind of blinked at me. |
| Um. Maybe it is the vestibular thing. I am 10:46. I might have had that once long ago after a virus and was prescribed antivert I guess in case I got motion sickness. I don't get seasick so never get nausea during bppv. |

Yes and it was horrible! I had a bout 5 years ago that landed me in the hospital (to test for other problems too). Go to see an ENT for proper diagnosis and don’t take anti motion sickness meds beyond a few days or it will delay healing. ENT can run tests to make sure your hearing isn’t jeopardized and also prescribes PT exercises to reset your balance. It took me at least 2 months to recover but I had a bad case that damaged my left inner ear.
Good luck with this! |
| I had something similar...felt like I was on a boat 24/7 or something. It was miserable and scary. I saw pcp, ent, eye dr, had hearing tested etc. No official diagnosis other than is seemed vestibular. Next step was going to be a brain MRI. Did some PT (there are some great YouTube videos out there is you want to start there) and I also did acupuncture because I figured I had nothing to lose. Some combination of those two things helped it go away. Good luck! |
Op - oh this is helpful! When I tilt my head up and then back down or look at phone in car etc I feel so nauseous. And it’s making so anxious I can’t tell what’s a symptom and what’s my anxiety any more |
PP here...do you have issues with your neck? When trying to figure out what was happening to me, cervical vertigo was one of the many things suggested. My dentist had this (occupational hazard) and said PT and the chiropractor helped immensely. |

NP. Definitely go see a ENT specialist asap! They can determine if you have BPPV vs vestibular issues vs something else. I saw a neurologist before ENT who wasn’t helpful except to order Mri to rule out brain tumor or stroke. Apparently a mini stroke can also cause vestibular issues. ENT can show you exercises to help but as others said may need special physical therapy to reset your inner ear.
A few of my friends also had similar issues. One was recently diagnosed with labrynthitis which is bad vertigo with hearing loss. Another friend developed vertigo as a result of a bad concussion a few years ago. A third friend had a stroke that left her with vertigo on and off (sad, she is young just turned 50). Vertigo issues are more common than I realized. My doctor had a vestibular virus so he knew to refer me to an ENT for proper evaluation. |
| Look up mal de debarquement, mine was diagnosed by a neurologist |
| Yes! You need steroids to help with the inflamed inner ear. Go see an ENT asap |
