I'm having our new neighbors over for dinner tomorrow night. They are huge foodies.
I'm planning on an apple and pecorino salad with walnuts and chive to begin, as well as some charcuterie/olives. For the main course, I'm doing spicy salmon in red sauce with linguine and sundried tomato, and garlic bread. For dessert, I made a coconut cake with fudge swirl. I am wondering if I need another appetizer? They're bringing the wine. |
| Sounds lovely, OP. |
| Whipped feta flatbread with a bit of tomato and oregano (no olives as those are in your charcuterie) |
| Do you really want a critique? I’d eat whatever you serve and be grateful, but I’d be wary of a spicy dish for people coming over for the first time. And sun-dried tomatoes are unpopular with a lot of foodies. |
| I would not do spicy unless you know they like it. |
Actually I wouldn't do salmon either unless you knew they liked it. |
| Sounds great to me |
| Sounds good but I'd replace the apple with something more in line with the italian main course. Roasted butternut squash, or even pear. |
| Sounds great and as a guest I wouldn’t complain but if you are looking for opinions, chives sound bad in that salad to me. Carmel used shallots sound better if the want more sweet or shaved radishes if you want a contrast. |
| Can they do tree nuts? I'd check. You have in in every course. |
| Sounds great to me but I have dietary issues. Do you know that about your guests? |
Yes. Pears, caramalied shallots, walnuts, pecorino, and a flavorful viniagerette. |
| I would not put chives in that salad. |
I’m not sure spicy and salmon or salmon and red sauce or salmon and sun dried tomatoes are a good combo. Have you made this before and is it really good? |
This. Salmon and tomato sauce seems weird. |
