| Any scoop on Auburn EA1 decision release? It's mid-October and now later than they've notified folks in past years. Wondering if tomorrow could be the day or it it'll be closer to towards the end of the month. I know they have already received something crazy like 30,000 applications! |
| Bumping this for the Auburn poster so they don’t have to keep starting a new thread every day. |
|
Sorry I started a second thread bc Ibsidjt see this. Not the same poster.
Crap, my 1400 4.0 weighted kid is screwed with 30k applications. Sigh. |
No hopefully your kid doesn’t go to a red state . Who in the world does this right now?? No one with brain cells |
|
I don’t mean to be flippant, not my style, but I am serving it back:
Who with brain cells eliminates whole swaths of colleges bc the general population didn't vote for their preferred presidential candidate. To each their own. Given the unprecedented increase in applications, a lot of folks disagree with your position though. |
| Also, other internet digging said a batch will be released this weekend. Unclear if that will be only in-state or OOS too. |
It's really a shame that so many out of state students, including in the DMV, are applying to multiple SEC schools while only really setting their sights on just one or two, if that. We even know of kids who don't seriously intend to go to any of them but are nevertheless applying because it's the thing to do or they just want to see if they're accepted. This makes it hard for OOS kids who really want to go to, say, Auburn to get in. And it plays havoc for the schools in determining how many offers to give. The overall yield rate for Auburn is about 25% and undoubtedly considerably lower for OOS students, which shows just how many admitted OOS students aren't that serious about attending. |
| Agree 100% with the PP. I don't know how you rectify it but it's really unfortunate for kids who has a school like Auburn as their first choice. |
|
Hate the game not the player. There is a trickle down effect bc relatively high stats kids can't count anything as a target. She would love to go to Georgia but has been told that is unlikely bc her school does not offer AP classes. Auburn is not her first choice but there is a chance she gets shut out of everything else. We will also weigh merit packages. So pls don't begrudge her for applying. The same thing is happening to her with kids who are using her first choice school as a backup.
Saying that, I agree kids shouldn't apply to schools in which they would not enroll. She dropped many schools off her list once she found Auburn and decided she would attend Auburn if deciding between the two. |
Unless there is a hard limit on how many schools you can apply to, there will be DMV kids shotgunning all the big, southern schools. They are really appealing to this generation. |
|
We know plenty of kids who applied to multiple SEC schools. Most didn’t get offers from all of them. They have to apply to many to be assured of getting into one.
Good luck all, Auburn and many of the other SECs are great schools. |
| OP - I have heard that they send out admissions over a few days so not one set date. |
Not sure that is up from this time last year? |
| Decisions are out! |
| Yes, good luck to all! |
