It's really a shame that so many out of state students, including in the DMV, are applying to multiple SEC schools while only really setting their sights on just one or two, if that.  We even know of kids who don't seriously intend to go to any of them but are nevertheless applying because it's the thing to do or they just want to see if they're accepted. This makes it hard for OOS kids who really want to go to, say, Auburn to get in.  And it plays havoc for the schools in determining how many offers to give.  The overall yield rate for Auburn is about 25% and undoubtedly considerably lower for OOS students, which shows just how many admitted OOS students aren't that serious about attending. [/quote]
