Aluminum a problem now? Like plastic bottles? Are you sick of it all?

Then there's Teflon pans, led, Tylenol. How much have changed your life with all these facts? - Surrounding not using, touching, smelling plastic? I'm over sixty, why bother at this point now. My kids and grandkids, I try to get them on board, but they are so busy running around, I don't think they comply with any of these nuances.

Aluminum foil has thrown me for a loop, that and that I have to get a Measles booster.

What? Aluminum foil is bad now?

I understand the feeling that it’s all a moving target, designed to keep us buying replacements as each latest and greatest is “found” to be harmful to health.

But if you ignore the trends and just keep doing what people have always done, you won’t have a bunch of space age polymer stuff to replace.

Just one example, I use glass jars (often old pickle and jam jars) instead of plastic for food storage. No need to throw away the fancy modular “food storage system” that instagram suckered me into.

Trends are bad, full stop. They exist to make us buy things people have never needed before. Be strong.

We will all end up dead someday.

One day coffee is bad for you, the next day it’s good for you. One day wine is bad for you, the next day It’s good for you. One day fat is bad the next day it’s good on and on I think you need to find something that works with you, and stick with it.

Obviously make changes when it seems appropriate to do so but also don’t get bogged down with the constant changes in recommendations.

Aluminum has been linked to mental decline and alzheimers for years now. That was big news in the 1990s.

You are just learning about it now.

Current research either rejects the idea that aluminum can harm your brain or states that the evidence is inconclusive, but the myth persists.

This myth likely arose from studies published in 1965 that involved animals. But those studies did not account for real-world limitations. Specifically, the animals in the experiments were exposed to extremely high aluminum levels, far more than a person would ever experience in real life.

"Now"?? Where have you been? There's been a link to aluminum and Alzheimer's for a long time. Many of us have not been using aluminum in our deodorant or kitchen products for years.

Yes that's certainly a big source of the toxic metal that many people have forgotten about.
Aluminum cookware was popular for a short period in the 1960s-70s, but then the link was established and went out of favor.
Cans were another big source of the toxic metal, but then corporations/gov required they be lined with plastic to prevent leaching of the metal. Now we have microplastics. Ugh!

Cooking with foil is foolish to do on a regular basis and probably the largest source of Al in the average person's diet now.

I’ve heard this as well to avoid aluminum. Maybe true or maybe not but I only cook with stainless steel, enamel ware and cast iron. You are more in danger of getting heavy metals from eating out. Restaurants typically use aluminum pots and pans. Majority of what Webstaurant supply store sells.

If you enjoy heavy metal poisoning, keep using that stainless steel.

The Ni leached from the saucepan exceeds the levels found by Jenson that caused cutaneous reactions
