If you regularly visit nail salon XYZ for 3 plus years and had overall good services and some one off bad services (rushed, poor polish application, too much oil, not enough scrubbing) but could tolerate those one offs- then had a very bad service where the elder nail tech cut your cuticle that bled the entire time and ignored it and overall service was poor, (clumpy nail polish, nail polish on your own sandals, dropping tools on the floor and using them on you) would you return for further appointments?
What if you regularly visit a hair salon and spend upwards of $100-$200 a month in services but the last time you went it was such a terrible experience where they left the apprentice to do your cut and charged you senior stylist fees and you had to fix it yourself at home? Would you go back to these places or do the work of starting over somewhere new? Do you ask for refunds or redos? |
| No, if the service is really poor and if they don’t offer to make amends I don’t go back. Salons are a dime a dozen. |

I like to think that I would talk to the manager and request a refund or a redo by the actual senior stylist.
But honestly the last time I had an absolutely horrid cut was 20 years and I just went home and cried. The next day I went to a new salon wearing a ball cap and got a pixie plus a new incredible stylist by luck of the draw — stuck with him for about 5 years until I moved. |
| I would identify one nail tech that was really good and only go to that person instead of who is available. |
| That said, I wouldn't go somewhere that let someone bleed all over everything because that is a disgusting biohazard and you don't know what else they are and are not sanitizing. |
| No, there are so many other places you can try if you live in an area like this. |
| I would have immediately asked to talk to the manager the instant the apprentice got near my hair. |
Ask yourself this, Do you return to a restaurant when you get bad service or food? |
| Lived here (not DC) almost 12 years and have been through all the salons in the area because except for one stylist, none was able to give me a good cut. They just know how to cut hair straight across these days and I want a stylist like Becker Chicaiza. |
| I can’t imagine that happening at a nail salon, but no, I wouldn’t go back. |
