I need to jazz up my burrito order

I'm in a rut and my DH is picking up burritos for lunch! I want to try something new. What is your go-to burrito filling/combo???

Honestly why aren’t you making them at home? So easy.

DP. I don’t make them because the tortillas you can get in grocery stores around here suck and are basically an offense to the Mexican people. The good burrito places like fish taco are somehow able to get decent tortillas.
Also it takes time to make stuff like carnitas and I don’t want to make all that just to officially have a burrito.

When I am home in Arizona I am more likely to make my own, since I can get decent tortillas. But even then I still get tortillas out because the red chile or machaca is so good. I hate it when people disrespect Mexican food and say it’s “so easy” to make at home. Good Mexican food is really time consuming to make.

OP, around here I often get carnitas because it is the most flavorful that you can get around here. So my typical order is just beans, rice, carnitas, guac and maybe something like guajillp sauce.

PS who remembers the burrito guy from downtown like 15-20 years ago that used to park on K street. He was a recovering lawyer I think. Burrito guy, we miss you!

I like roasted veg, cheese, sour cream and quac with whatever meat I’m craving.

Yes, and so delicious!

But when I don't have the ingredients in the house, the time to make them, or the desire to take on a small project for lunch and DH is offering, I too would order.

OP I don't eat meat but I get: rice, beans (I prefer pinto), onions/peppers, pico, corn, fresh tomato and cilantro, a hot vinegary salsa on the side (right now that's Chohula pineapple habanero, at home), guac on the side (to distribute it evenly), and I use my sour cream from home because I like to distribute it evenly.

If he's going to Chipotle I get: rice, pinto beans, fajita veggies, pico, corn salsa, hot salsa, guac, sour cream and a side of either vinaigrette or the new recipe chimichuri. I also prefer a bowl with a tortilla on the side. I don't waste my time with lettuce.

When I was in college, I was friends with a guy who had a Mexican grandmother. She had taught him how to make tortillas. We made him show Us how. We had no rolling pin, so we rolled them out with cans of soda. You can make your own tortillas too.

Why does someone always respond this way when an poster asks about ordering out?

Many of us cook at home most of the time but sometimes people just want to pick something up.
