Army Ten Miler and Marine Corps Marathon May Be Cancelled

Anyone doing either of these races?

This would be such a bummer. F this shutdown.

No way!

This is exactly the kind of thing that should be cancelled during the shutdown. A shutdown with only certain federal workers not being paid but services still continuing is not really a shut down. I would also like to see members of congress and their staff not be paid during a shutdown.

I do feel sorry for the people who have been training for months. I also feel sorry for the many people who are not receiving paychecks due to elected representatives not doing their job to take care of the budget, AGAIN.

Isn’t this funded by tickets????

I’m signed up and received the below email earlier today:

Dear Runners,

We want to share an important update regarding the In-Person Army Ten-Miler Race, 12 October. A decision of whether to cancel the In-Person Army Ten-Miler Race based on unforeseen circumstances will be made no later than October 8, 2025. You will immediately be notified once the decision is made. The ATM Virtual Race will continue as planned.

If the In-Person Army Ten-Miler Race is cancelled, ATM will refund In-Person Army Ten-Miler runner registration fees, and Hooah Tent fees. Please note that most credit card processing fees are collected by Active Network and may not be refunded. Registration will remain open, and we will continue to plan to execute the In-Person Army Ten-Miler race until a final decision is reached.

Thank you for your patience and support. We will continue to keep you fully informed.

Lock these runners up!

Why should it be ran? Everything should be closed. Let everyone feel the pain.

This is unfortunate for not just the runners but also the DC area -- already hit economically by DOGE, the cancellation of these two events would be worth millions in hotel rooms, restaurants, and other spending by the thousands of people who come into the city to participate or cheer on participants. These are often peak days for things like metro revenues and parking fees. With the Nationals failing again to make the post season, the loss of the race-related revenues contributes to a real down month for DC and the inner suburbs.

They squelched the voting on the Epstein file. Which doesn't exist. But they voted to be double darn sure I guess. That it doesn't exist. But they didn't want to vote.

I'm assuming the issue is not for lack of funds for the race (there are entry fees and I believe private companies pay a lot of $$ to 'sponsor' it - I honestly have no idea if any govt. funds are used for this race, except maybe the wages of the soldiers who work the event by manning water stops, etc.)

The sad part is this is the 50th Marine Corps Marathon, and they increases the number of entries. For many people, this would be their first marathon, and it sucks that it may be suth down because our government is run by a bunch of bables.
