MIDDLE SCHOOL detention

Why are they giving detention to kids in MS who shows up 1-2 minutes after the bell ? MY DS only has tardy 5 IN TOTAL. AND IS GETTING A REFFERAL.....
THIS IS NOT A BEHAVIOR ISSUE. THIS SHOULD NOT GET BEHAVIOR REFFERAL.

Why is your child being tardy 5 times into the new school year? It's only October and you're making excuses. What is the problem?
Anonymous
This is actually a good policy. If he has recurring tardiness, there is an issue. It helps cut down on vaping and hallway/bathroom problems, and helps keep your child and his peers safer at school.

Maybe a detention or two will help your teen get to class on time. Maybe you should be talking to your teen about getting to class on time instead of posting here about your kid getting written up for being late to class.

Based on the grammar and capitalization in the OP, I assume you are the student in question.

Recommend focusing in class.

It's a parent issue. Why can't you get your kid to school on time?
Anonymous
It is a behavior issue. Your child is fooling around in the bathroom or hallway between classes or not ready on time in the morning. Change those behaviors and they won't have 5 tardies.

It's not a kid posting, it is a hot mess Mom who doesn't have her act together and feels like the world owes her a break.
My guess is that you are the type of person late for most of your own commitments and has little respect for other people's time.

Why do entitled women think that all caps makes them sound smart? it has exactly the opposite effect.

Five tardies in the past month to five weeks is A LOT.

Your child has plenty of time to get to class on time but is making poor choices regarding hallway/bathroom behavior. Yes, it is behavior and is therefore a behavior issue.

It sounds like he has been tardy every 1-2 weeks. That's 10%-20% of the time that he is late. If he can get there 2 minutes after the bell, I'm sure he can figure out how to get there 2 minutes earlier.

Disagree. I was a quiet, goody-two-shoes as a kid who got detention because of tardiness. And it wasn’t my fault at all. My mom was late dropping me off in the morning.

You kid has 5 tardies in a little over a month?!

What on earth is wrong with our kid, OP?

assuming that you are serious and not a troll, you come across as a clown and a Karen. I pray to God that you are hot, because you don't sound like you have much else going for you.

We dont know if the OP's kid is tardy to school (1st or 2nd period) or if the kid is tardy to other classes.

If the kid is tardy to school, that's a parenting issue that needs to be addressed.

If the kid is tardy to classes during the day, that's a behavior issue.

Either way, the school is handling it the way they should.
