what is your tween/teen daughter’s favorite meal?

Anonymous
My nieces (ages 12 and 15) are visiting over thanksgiving week, and they are staying with me which has not happened in the past bc my brother and his wife lived in the area until this past summer.

What are some meals your tween/teen daughters like, so I can stock ingredients and maybe even practice cooking before they come. Yes I could ask my brother what they like, but I’ll get a non-answer from him (if you have a sibling like this, you know what I’m talking about ☺️). I do think their tastes are on the basic side, like one always order spaghetti when we go out to eat.

A couple of nights we’ll go out (my parents live near me, too- they are hosting thanksgiving, thankfully!) and order in (and I’ll ask my nieces what they want to order), but I’ll be cooking several nights and want my nieces to be happy.

Thanks for your suggestions.

This is what mine love too. But to cook at home you can do chicken nuggets with knock off canes sauce (google it) and Texas toast. Burrito bowls. Oven fries with chicken tenders. Cesear salad wraps. Pasta with red sauce and garlic bread. Naan pizzas. Good luck!

My 14yo’s favorite meal I make is
Homemade fettuccine Alfredo. Sauce from scratch. Complicated-ish but sort of easy too. Steamed broccoli on side.

She also loves:
Tacos and or DIY Taco Bell like Crunchwraps
Grilled cheeseburgers
Homemade sweet potato fries - oven or air fryer
Cucumbers specifically
Salad bar
Sausage/egg breakfast casserole
Soup in bread bowl
Panera soups I buy at the store
Egg salad
Chicken salad on croissant

Spaghetti, meat sauce, garlic bread is a big hit with both my girls (12/16).

My younger one loves fettuccine Alfredo and most teens do like that so that’s a safe bet if you also add some chicken.

Fajita bowls would be easy to make and for them to customize - grill steak or chicken with peppers and onions and make rice and have the toppings out for them

Tacos are a good choice because they can choose ingredients. I would text them for their input. Are either of them meatless?

Definitely ask them! What kinds of things would you like when you visit? Breakfast? Snacks? Drinks?

The chances DCUM will give you a better answer is small.
