Enough said.
We work all week and have 2 precious days at home as a family. With church, we have one morning together (Saturday). Sunday is spent yelling to get out the door, even though I try really hard not to. We get home and everyone is hungry and grumpy. Going out to eat is too expensive and packing lunch or a snack is time consuming…I pack food all week! What I wouldn’t give for a Wednesday night church. |

Some Catholic Churches have a Saturday evening mass.
We don’t go to church and the kids just do youth group on Sunday evenings. Kid sports take up too much time on Sunday mornings. |
| I agree with you 100%. And we are at a Christian private so we are the only ones who aren’t active in a church |
We aren’t Catholic but I was raised Catholic so the guilt crushes me. I also really want my kids raised in a church. But I also really want time around the breakfast table 2 mornings a week. |
| You do not have to sit in church to be religious. It’s more a way of life. |
| We aim for 50% attendance. |
|
Why not find a better time? Most churches have like 2 or 3 times listed so maybe aim for a later time. Less stressful.
Catholic Masses are offered on Sat evening and Sunday evenings in addition to the traditional Sun morning ones. Really no excuse to miss. |
No excuse to have to sit in church. Live the life. Teach your children. |

+1 to the idea of finding a better time. Ours is at 10, which is late enough to sleep in a little, eat breakfast, give the dog a little walk before 9:45.
It helps that we live very close and dress casually. If you are scrambling to get out the door because of appearance concerns or a long drive, those are avoidable issues. |
| Does your church livestream? Or could you find one that does? We sometimes stream the service. |
|
Commit to going twice a month.
Do you help with ministries at your church or just go sit in a pew on Sundays? If you’re interested in ministries see which ones are offered you could get involved in. Maybe there is something on a Weds night, you never know. |
| St Andrew’s Lutheran in Silver Spring has Monday evening church for families just like you! |
|
How old are your children? Anyone have any ADHD? Is it difficult on weekday mornings as well? Because some families wake up early and never have to yell at their kids to get ready, so there's no stress in attending morning stuff.
If you can't find a workaround, like finding a different church with a different service time, or one closer to your house... well, just know that you can be observant in others ways and do good works. |
Plus, it's a mortal sin to miss mass. |
OP is not Catholic. Catholicism and protestantism are not interchangeable. Converting from one to another is possible of course but a different topic. |
