Help me to stop leaving my keys in the car

I got a new car (ok, I got it last year, so you'd think by now I would have solved this problem) with a push-button to start the car rather than a key. And, I keep leaving my keys in the car. At the grocery store while the kids are at soccer practice, not usually in my driveway because I need my keys to get in the house.

I usually don't carry a purse, I throw my phone with DL and cc in my pocket, and when I leave my house and lock it, I end up throwing my keys in the center console and leaving them there wherever I go.

How do you all remember your keys when you have a fob and push button to start your car, and not leave them in your car?

I carry a purse for this very reason

Why wouldn't you have the fob on the same key ring as your house keys? Are you saying you leave those in the car, too? Alternately, put it in your pocket, if you don't have a pocket, drop it in your bra.

I keep my key fob inside my wallet.

I use the fob to lock the car every time I leave it. So it has to be in my hand outside the car.

Your car shouldn't lock if the keys are in it. If you are leaving your car unlocked, you are making yourself vulnerable.

I can fit my keys in a pocket. And a phone in the other one.

You can get a phone case that attaches to a keyring.

I have ADHD, and I forget certain things in the paperwork realm... but I've never forgotten my keys anywhere. I did leave my travel mug twice on location, and that cured me of that. I think my significant anxiety acts as counterweight to my inattention

Do you forget your phone? If you remember that every time attach the phone to the keys. You obviously aren't locking the car if you leave the keys in there by accident all the time. Maybe start doing that too?

Does your car not make an audible sound when the keys are left behind? My horn beeps in a particular way.

I don't have pockets unless it's jacket or coat time. When I go walking or on brief errands, I just take my phone "purse" that has a shoulder string I can use crossbody. I can put my phone and keys in it. It's on my body. Not in the console.

I also dont carry a purse, but I have a carabiner that I use to hook everything together. I will often shove my phone into my back pocket and then just carry my keys.
